Aircraft: Dornier 328JET – 31 Seater
The mining company needed to transport around 15-25 staff members at a time between South Africa and their 2 sites in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. There was a scheduled service serving the area, but it was extremely unreliable so the client needed a dependable and flexible alternative. We conducted a full market study of airlines that could provide a regular charter on the requested route, assessing factors such as their external safety audits and availability of back-up aircraft, before shortlisting the top three.
The client had requested an aircraft that could complete the journey quickly enough to have staff operating on-site on the same day. We decided on the Dornier 328JET; a German commuter airliner that offered a good balance between cost and speed. Over the course of a year, Air Charter Service operated over 100 charters for the mining company. As well as offering a convenient and adaptable alternative to the local scheduled service, we were able to transport staff closer to the site, avoiding dangerous road transfers and boosting passengers’ morale.

CARGO: Although we weren’t initially tasked with transporting any cargo, it quickly became clear that the client could easily move parts and tools on the chartered flights along with their staff. Almost half of all flights transported cargo.This saved them tens of thousands of dollars and countless hours of additional planning and tracking.
